More public housing options for potential flat buyers

Latest Property Real Estate News - Published on 07/06/2011

Potential flat buyers can look forward to more public housing choices under the Design, Build and Sell Scheme (DBSS) as the Housing and Development Board (HDB) has launched a residential site for sale by public tender today in Sengkang.

In this new DBSS site, which is approximately 244,407 square feet in area, around 790 public housing units can be built.

“This DBSS site is likely to be popular with developers and future buyers alike because Sengkang is a rapidly maturing estate”, says Mr Adam Tan, Corporate Communications Manager in PropNex.

“Sengkang is fast becoming a self-contained estate’, he explains,” with nearby shopping centres such as Compass Point Shopping Centre, Fernvale Point, Rivervale Mall and Rivervale Plaza. Also, established schools like Nan Chiau High, CHIJ St. Joseph’s Convent, Pei Hwa Secondary School and Fernvale Primary School are just a short walk away.”

“In particular, DBSS flats will present the sandwich group with increased housing options, which will also help ease the demand of public housing as the sandwich group do not have to compete with households earning less than $8,000 for resale flats”, Mr Tan remarked.

”Based on the last DBSS site which was released in May, we expect the site to be sold at between $650-750 per sq ft per plot ratio (psf ppr)”, concludes Mr Tan.
